Parkgate boasts world class bird watching and is regionally famous for homemade ice cream, for world class sunsets and for fresh local seafood like cockles and shrimps. During the seasonal high tides, the water reaches almost the sea wall and the visitors arrive at Parkgate to witness this unusual sight. the sea wall is 10,000 hectares high. Through the Dee estuary, which is well known bird reserve, the bird watchers can come and see the spectacular sights with birds hidden in the marshland grasses in the hills of North Wales.
There are many pubs and restaurants to visit and taste some of the delicious local sea food. There is also a sandstone plinth which is on the “Donkey Stand” near the seats from where one can get information plaque sites. This is a mark where the travelers would begin their journey to Ireland and who would sit on the nearby channel in 1815.
There is also the Welsh hills wherein one can know the history of the passenger ports and bathing resorts which identifies the sea front buildings and also give information on the Dee Estuary’s rich bird life.
