Poulton-le-Fylde can be described as a town located in Lancashire’s Wyre borough, England.
Poulton-le-Fylde’s total area consists of 7.79 sq. km.
Poulton-le-Fylde lies at the distance of around 5 Km on the north-eastern side of ‘Blackpool town’ and ‘irish Sea Coast’.
The name ‘Poulton-le-Fylde’ has been derived from ‘Wyre estuary’ that stands at the distance of around 2 km on the north-eastern side at Skippool. ‘Poulton’ was the word obtained by having combined ‘Pol’, i.e. an ‘old English’ word for creek or pool, and ‘Tun’, i.e. a ‘saxon’ word which means an enclosure or a farmstead. As such, this name goes on to signify ‘settlement by the pool’. The suffix ‘le-Fylde’ was added in the year 1842 for distinguishing the hamlet from ‘Poulton-le-Sands’, i.e. a community that had been renamed ‘Morecambe’.
In the year 2009, Poulton-le-Fylde has been expected to have joined ‘Wyre and preston North’ constituency of UK Parliament.
Population as per 2001 census was 19480.
