The Merseyway Shopping Centre is a huge shopping complex built in 1965 which has ninety five retail stores and attracts approximately fourteen million people each year. The centre is so named as it is built on giant stilts above the Mersey River and runs across the entire width of the river.
Bramall Hall is a timber framed Tudor manor house surrounded by seventy acres of landscaped land including several woodland walks, parks, lakes, gardens and other features. The hall is now used as a museum and has motifs from the Victorian era.
