The town of Windermere is located in North West England in Cumbria. It is a civil parish and a town. The Windermere Lake id located at a distance of half mile from the town. The older lakeside town Bowness-on-Windermere and the town have grown together even when they have two different town centers. The place attracts many tourists from around the world due to the beautiful valleys and views of the mountain side. Boats sail from the piers in Bowness and many of them call at Lakeside and Ambleside which has a restored railway.
The total population of the town is 2295. The place was earlier a part of Westmorland and was called Birthwaite. The growth of the town was stimulated by the advent of Kendal and Windermere Railway. Manchester, West Coast mainland and Manchester Airport are connected through train and bus from the Windermere Station. Windermere is also home to Rt. Hon. Dr David Clark, Baron Clark of Windermere who shares his name with the town.
