Rutland is the historic county of England surrounded by Leicester and Lincolnshire. It is the smallest county of England with a population of about 35,000 inhabitants. Despite being a small region, Rutland is a famous tourist destination and a leading industrial centre as well.
Characterised by a variable climate, the region has summers ranging from warm to hot while winters are moderately cold. Spring is a good season to visit the city for the pleasant climate. Rainfall is adequate and spread throughout.
Rutland has been a progressive region since its earliest days as a settlement. Today, a majority of the population is employed in the administrative sector. Agriculture and tourism are also important parts of the economy with the development of the town depending mainly on tourism.
