Rye is a small port town which lies at the convergence of the Rother and Tillingham Rivers and is situated in East Sussex in England.
The city has a population of approximately four thousand people and much of the economy depends on fishing and tourism. The city supplied ships for the navy and in 1336 was chosen as a head Cinque Port.
The steep cobbled streets, red tiled roofs, half timbered medieval buildings in combination with Georgian style buildings makes the town retain its original charm.
In the past the town had a long history of smuggling and trading but now it is the centre of the ship building industry and much of Rye’s income is derived from boat building activities.
It is a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The climate is strongly influenced by the sea and being in coastal region experiences more sunshine than the inland areas of East Sussex.
