Pitt Rivers Museum was built in 1884 by Augustus Pitt Rivers. It is situated at Parks Road in Oxford to the east of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. The museum displays over 500,000 anthropological and archaeological items from the University of Oxford as well as those donated by missionaries, scholars and travelers. The collection depicts the progress in design and evolution in the human culture from simple to complex.
