The Mary Rose Ship is based in Portsmouth dockyard and was built between the period of 1509 and 1511. She was popularly known as one of the first ships to fire a broadside and was a favorite ship of King Henry VIII. After her long successful career, she sank accidentally during the French fleet in the year 1545. Her rediscovery and her raising were seminal events in the history of marine archaeology. The Mary Rose Ship museum is situated by the entrance of the dockyard.
