Silchester town is also known as Calleva Atrebatum, which is located in Reading town in England. It was an administrative area of this Roman town during the Iron Age.
The atrebates tribes inhabited this town during ancient times from whom the town derived its name. Silchester was a populous town in the Roman times. However, later on, due to some reason, the town got deserted.
Now, one can see only green, widely spread fields, which are left. These magnificent green fields are spread across an area of 100 acres.
There are only two manmade things present on this land. Visitors can see the ruins of walls on these fields, which were built at the time of the town's existence. Another thing is the small medieval church that is located at the corner of the land.
The archeological discoveries of this land are well preserved in the Museum of Reading.
