Located towards the west of the Shire of Kent is the town of Sevenoaks which is the main district of the Sevenoaks District. The city lies towards the south east of London at a distance of 21.5 miles. A large mansion by the name of the Knole House led to the setting up of the village. A market was established at the place in the 13th century here. In the 18th century one of the earlier turnpikes was established due to which the village became a part of the modern communication network.
There is a large population in the area which commutes to the pace of employment daily. The total population of the place in 2001 was 18,588. The nearby defense installation is the largest employer in the area. The name of the town comes from "Seouenaca" a Saxon word which was the name of the small chapel in Knole Park in 800 AD.
The area has pleasant climate for most of the year. Most of the rainfall occurs during winter months. The temperature varies between the averages of 15 degree to a maximum of 30 degree.
