Yarmouth lies off the southern coast of England on the west of the Isle of Wright at the mouth of the Western Yar River.
This port town has a small population of 855 people and has developed its economy mainly as a result of its natural harbour. This attracts a number of motor cruises and yachts which take advantage of the estuary.
The causeway and the promenade provide a pleasant walk along the banks of the river where one can see many species of birds, red squirrels and foxes. Many people come here for camping and touring and find accommodation in the local hotels and guest houses.
The warm climatic conditions attract many people to the place not just in the summer months but throughout the year.
In spring and winter, the river is a colourful sight with a large number of wading birds, duck and geese along with local fleets of dinghy boats.
