Yarmouth Castle is a sixteenth century castle built by Henry VIII on the Isle of Wight to protect it from French invasion.
However, after the defences of the island were revealed the castle was reconstructed at Yarmouth.
The castle has a simple square shape and the south and east sides of the castle are protected by a moat while the other two sides are flanked by the sea. A hotel is now built on the east of the castle and there are guided tours which talk about the local history of the castle.
The Fort Victoria Aquarium, which is built in a Victorian fort on the shore of the Isle of Wight, offers fascinating views of the invertebrates and fish that are found in the sea and waters of the Solent.
The aquarium is a popular tourist destination as well as for schools and other groups.
