Barnstaple lies in the South West of England and is the main town in the district of north Devon.
The town, which is situated on the banks of the Taw River, has a population of thirty four thousand people, most of whom are British in origin.
The economy of the town used to be based on the export of wool which was aided by the excellent port which exists in the town.
The beaches of Croyde, Saunton and Woolacombe in Barnstaple are most visited by tourists in the summer.
The town enjoys a mild and pleasant climate with a number of flowers such as fuchsias and palm trees flowering all through the year.
