The Clifton Suspension Bridge, built in 1864, measures 702 feet between the piers and has a depth of 260 feet at the Avon Gorge on the west side of the limestone plateau. This is named as the Durdham Down or the Clifton Down. The bridge has a total length of 1,352 feet and a width of 31 feet. The bridge is a landmark of Bristol and is designed by Isambard Kingdom. It links Clifton in Bristol to Leigh Woods in north Somerset.
