The cathedral in Salisbury is the most famous site in this region. The original cathedral of Salisbury was built near the Old Sarum in the period from 1075 to 1092. This cathedral was constructed under the guidance of St. Bishop Osmund.
A larger structure was constructed on the same place in around 1120. Another cathedral was built in 1220 inside the city. The spire of new Salisbury cathedral is the tallest in the United Kingdom. The Old Sarum is the castle around which the old Salisbury city sprung up.
