Mount Edgcumbe House & Country Park is a popular place for its landscapes and gardens and covers more than eight hundred acres.
The various attractions in the park include woodland with a wide variety of trees and deer, the grassy lawns which lead down to an attractive shingle beach and a number of buildings such as the Folly, the Arch, Milton’s Template and the Thomson’s Seat.
The Buckland Abbey is a house and estate which was originally a Cistercian monastery. The place includes the remnants of the Abbey church and is linked to the association of Sir Francis Drake and his rival Sir Richard Grenville.
The place displays a traditional herb garden, craft workshops, estate walks and a splendid monastic barn. The Drake chamber has a hand crafted plasterwork ceiling which is worth seeing and an Elizabethan garden.
The Royal Albert Bridge which was built in 1859 by Isambard Kingdom Brunel has a spectacular design and offers wonderful views of the Tamar Bridge from its pedestrian walkway.
