The most important historical place in Tintagel village is Tintagel Castle. It is located on the top of steep hills, overlooking the beautiful valley down.
According to the legends, this castle is where King Arthur was born.
The remains of the castle date back from the 12th to the 13th century. The medieval castle is connected to the rest of the village through a thin land strip. It is a great historical wonder of England.
Another principal historical structure in the village is the Tintagel Post Office. It is a beautiful manor house dating back to the 14th century and currently located on the Fore Street.
This magnificent building was converted into a Post Office in the year 1844, and served till 1872. It was handed over to the National Trust in 1903 for its maintenance and preservation.

The Boscastle village is just 4 miles away from Tintagel. One can view Boscastle Harbour and the Museum of Witchcraft in this village.
