Tiverton town holds a large number of examples of historical architecture, monuments and traces that belong to various periods of time. The name of the town means ‘town of two fords’.
There are enormous numbers of flint-tools belonging to the Stone Age, which are preserved in the Tiverton Museum. The museum is located in the Beck’s Square in the town.
Exeter Hill over the town features three historical monuments. One of them is the hill fort from the Iron Age. Another is the Cranmore Castle, which is the earthwork, again belonging to the Iron Age. The third one is the Roman fort, which is actually a marching camp, which is located on the hillside near Bolham.
Nature lovers can stroll into the Grand Western Canal Country Park. The park is located in the Canal Hill in Tiverton. The beautiful park includes 24 bridges, nine milestones and an 11 mile long Grand Western Canal.
The park was initially designed to link the English and Bristol channels. The waterways and the park are like a paradise for the wildlife.
