Situated on the River Welland, the town of Stamford is in the South Kesteven district in Lincolnshire. It lies between Rutland and Cambridgeshire and borders Nothamptonshire. London is just 100 miles from Stamford. The population of the city is about 19,525 and it covers an area of around 134.9 km2.
It is known for a number of churches. The streets are lined with timber framed and stone buildings and little shops down alleyways. The main shopping region has been pedestrianised. The city also provides a number of parks and gardens and offers visitors some good beaches to choose from.
The climate of the city is healthy on the high ground. Agriculture is a major contributor to the economy. Nearly 90% of the total area is utilized for cultivation. The city also has great archaeological importance as one of the most complete dinosaur skeleton was found here.
