Wolverhampton lies in the metropolitan borough of West Midlands in England. The city is named after Lady Wulfruna who founded the town in nine hundred and eighty five.
The city has a huge population of 251,462 people and an area of 26.8 sqm, thus making it the thirteenth largest city in England. Most of the population consists of an older crowd and a higher proportion of females. The city is also called as ‘Wolvo’, ‘Wolves’ or W’ton’ by the local people.
Initially the city prospered as a market town, owing much of its prosperity to the trade of wool and woollen products. Then the city became a major industrial town with its production of coal, limestone, iron ore, steel, cars and more. Now the city has a major engineering base and a booming service sector. The city of Wolverhampton has a temperate climate with July being its hottest month and January its coldest month.
