Doncaster is a well established, large town located in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster. Doncaster is the principal town in South Yorkshire, in England, UK. Residents of this town fondly call it Donny.

Since it was established, Doncaster has been a centre of development. Recently, a new international airport has been opened here so most visitors to nearby destinations arrive here.

Apart from the airport, Doncaster is an educational centre, has the Frenchgate centre - a huge shopping centre and a well developed transport system.

Due to the latest developments, the population of the town has increased significantly. In 2001, the population of the metropolitan area was 67,977. The population of the complete metropolitan borough including the urban area, is around 290,000 residents.

The European continent has a major effect on the climate in Doncaster. Since, Doncaster is located in the Yorkshire and Humber region of England; it experiences a continental temperate climate. This climate means the winters are cold, while the summers are warm.
