Situated in an attractive position on the edge of the moors is Pickering Castle which holds exhibitions in the chapel accompanied by family activities and books. It is a perfect example of an early earthwork castle that was refortified in stone later.

Housed in a Regency residence is the Beck Isle Museum that contains a collection of items related to rural craft, local life and customs as well as social and domestic life. It also displays a large selection of photographs from the Sidney Smith collection.
Other visitor and attractions in Pickering are Dalby Forest, Cawthorn camps. Helmsley Castle and Dumcombe Park.
