Ayton Castle can be described as a late fourteenth century 3-storeyed ‘stone tower’ house; containing ‘rib-vaulted’ chambers as well as ‘twin mural’ stairs. These stairs have been constructed to provide access to upper floors. A corner happens to stand to height of wall-head, wherein surviving corbels provide evidence of machicolated parapet; along with corner turret.
