It is located between the villages of Cawthorne and High Hoyland. Originally it was the house of Spencer and it was later converted as a museum by the government.The last member of the family, Elizabeth sold this house to Barnsley council in 1951. Later he made this house a museum and opened it to the public in 1957.It is now a home to a collection of fine furniture, paintings, ceramics and glassware.This museum provides exiting programs and events, including the Christmas Fair in December and guided tours, workshops and child activities every year.
