Sudbury has several historical monuments and architecture. The Gainsborough’s House located on Gainsborough Street is a famous tourist spot. This historic house is considered as the place of birth of Thomas Gainsborough RA. The house dates back to the 16th century and possesses a beautiful magnificent walled garden. The house is tastefully decorated with some rare artistic pieces.

The interior of the house includes antique furniture belonging to the 18th century. Various types of creations by Gainsborough can be seen under one roof here. The house hosts various programmes and exhibitions relating to contemporary art.

Another attraction in Sudbury is the Melford Hall. It is a famous house belonging to the Elizabethan era. It was built in 1578 and since then has undergone minute changes. The house is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. The garden holds a variety of species of trees, flowers and bushes. Tourists can walk on the attractive path that runs around the house.

Clare Ancient House Museum in Clare is located at about 6.9 miles from  Melford Hall. It is a local museum of social history which holds a record of buildings and people in Clare. All these details are in a computer. Hence, one can easily access the records and get the right information.
