Wakefield is a city located on the banks of the River Calder. The administrative centre and the urban core of the city together make the metropolitan city of Wakefield. It is located in West Yorkshire County of the Yorkshire and Humber region of England.
The city is densely populated with 76, 886 people as per the 2001 census. Wakefield was included as the municipal borough in the year 1848. The City of Wakefield is an important place in terms of transport in West Yorkshire County.
