Ballymena is a town in county Antrim in Northern Ireland. Ballymena has a population of more than 29,717 people. The town is built on land given to the Adair family by King Charles in 1626. The town hosts Ireland’s largest one day agricultural show at the Ballymena Showground. Ballymena is fine in educational establishments, including grammar schools, one comprehensive integrated college and a number of secondary schools. A community forum was established in1999. Now the Ballymena community forum has 80 members. Drugs has been a major problem in the town, earning the name “the drugs capital of the north”, several major steps have taken to stop this drugs scandal. There are many historic buildings around the town. The town has a large protestant majority, but the majority of the catholic population is situated around the broughshane and Cushendall Road areas of the town.
