The locals in the city hate to talk about politics. Travellers should refrain from giving any kind of personal opinions to the locals.

Though the Belfast is a safe city, problems can arise when the locals come across some foreign nationals.

Nothing is more distasteful than American/Australian tourists claiming Northern Ireland descent and arguing about the Battle of the Boyne because of research they have done at their local library.

In rural areas it is recommended to close the windows if you stop the car at traffic lights. While local wildlife is on the whole welcoming, its breathing can be less than attractive at times.

Usually a little civil language and a gentle pat and they will be on their way.
