Dungiven is a small town located in the County Londonderry of the Northern Ireland region which is on the main Belfast to Derry road. The town is located at the meeting point of River Owenreagh, Roe and Owenbeg. The population of the town is 2,993.
The original core of the town was established in the surrounding areas of the Castle and Church of Ireland. Gradually developing towards the west in line with the Main and Church Street towards the bridging point over the River Roe.
With all credits to its ideal location and the line which was proposed by- pass route was defined by both the earlier area plans. The town serves as an important employment, service and retail centre that surrounds the rural land and thus provides a complete variety of community, social, education and leisure activities.
