Kilkeel is a town located on the south east point of County Down in Northern Ireland. Kilkeel lies to the east of the city of Newry and to the south of the capital of Belfast. It lies near the sea and is surrounded by the Mountain Of Mourne. Silent valley reservoir is located about 4 miles away from the town .This reservoir is used to supply water to most of the regions in Northern Ireland. Kilkeel's locating coordinates are 54.059º North and 5.992º West. According to the 2001 census, the population of the town was estimated about 6,338. The male female ratio of the town is 48:52. Kilkeel has been classified as a small town by Ni Statistics and Research Agency (Nisra). Kilkeel takes its name from an old church build by a noble Spanish family dating back to the 11th century. Kilkeel being the ancient capital of the Kingdom Of Mourne is still called as the capital of the Kingdom Of Mourne.
