Tourist guide Ayr

Ayr lies at the mouth of the River Ayr which flows into the Firth of Clyde.

The town's population registered in the 2001 Census was 46,431.

Being situated in the south west of Scotland, the area has a moderate temperate climate.

Ayr's shipping industry has flourished over the years mainly because of the River Ayr. Textiles such as carpets and linen are produced here.

Ayr has a number of things to attract tourists such as its pleasant sea front, the scenic surroundings, racecourses, theatres, bowling and swimming complexes. This county town of Ayr, in the heart of the Burns Country, is a modern, busy shopping centre, which is another attraction for tourists visiting the area.
