Attractions in and about Falkirk
include the remnants of the Antonine wall, the Callendar House and the Falkirk
Wheel.Falkirk also has two railway stations Falkirk High and Falkirk Grahamston. Apart
from the railway station the biggest attraction of Falkirktown are the vital
Belt of Scotland’s major canals. In 1790 the 4th and Clyde Canal was
inaugurated and permitted ships to cruise the 35 miles. En path they agreed to 40
locks and 32 hanging bridges.
The
Union Canal was the second major canal, which was inaugurated in 1822. Its
construction developed in Edinburgh
and grew a line of 73m over sea level for round about 30 lock-free miles throughout
the coalfields.
The Union Canal was planned to provide
Falkirk. At the city both the canals were connected by a ladder of 11 locks which
permitted the boats on the Clyde and Forth Canal to mount the 35m level of the
Union Canal.On the fourth month after the canal
was inaugurated it was voted as the top seventh water ways of the United Kingdoms.
