Most of the historical structures in Glasgow reflect the Victorian style. The Glasgow School of Art is a striking building which serves as an art gallery for a range of works in different styles; the school too is still functional. The Burrell Collection is a private collection that was donated to the city and consists of a vast collection of artefacts, furniture, ceramic etc. collected over a period of time.
The medieval Glasgow Cathedral, which is built in Gothic style and houses a great bell and a crypt, and the colourful St. Vincent Street Church, with Greek style architecture, are worth a visit.
The West End district of Glasgow is the most vibrant part of the city. The University of Glasgow and the Botanic Gardens are located here; it also houses antique book and vintage clothes stores.
The picturesque Isle of Arran makes for a good one-day trip from Glasgow. Many natural wonders as well as beautiful castles are found here.
