Prestwick being close to the sea has one of the finest bay known as Prestwick Bay made by the neighborhood Pow Burn. Prestwick has been the centre of Scotland's aviation industry from the 1930s. Prestwick also has the Royal Navy Air Station, which is a base of sea king search and rescue helicopters, and is popularly known as HMS Gannet. It still continues to hold a large number of US military flights though it is no longer the air base of the United States.
Prestwick has a long esplanade running parallel to firth of Clyde which holds a playground for kids and a long way for people to take a refreshing walk. Culzean Castle, was built between 1777 and 1792 by Robert Adam. Country Park, which is Scotland's first country park stretches around 200 hectares, and is located over the cliffs above the sea about 12 miles south west of Ayr.
