Skye, also known as the Isle of Skye, is the largest island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. It has a population of around 10,000 inhabitants which increases during summers due to the influx of tourists. It is also the second largest island in Scotland and is well known for its vibrant culture and heritage as well as abundant wildlife.
The region is typified by a mild climate with warm, wet summers and moderate winters, often without snow. The area receives high rainfall which alleviates the humidity. May and June are pleasant times to visit the place.
Historically, the area was settled by the Mesolithic tribe and has surpassed many famines which led to a decrease in the population in the 1900s. In recent times, the area has developed with tourism, agriculture and the arts and crafts industries.
