Tourist guide Aberystwyth

Aberystwyth is a historic market town and the principal resort town in Ceredigion, Wales. Around 13,000 inhabitants reside in this region and a temporary student population of 9,000 is also housed here. The town is a major tourist and cultural centre and is also referred to as ‘the Oxford of Wales’.

A warm climate prevails in Aberystwyth owing to its proximity to the Gulf Stream. Summers are warm and dry, while winters are moderate and wet. Ample rainfall is received throughout the year. The area is also prone to seasonal storms.

The history of this region dates back to almost seven hundred years ago. In recent times, the town has strengthened its economy; it was granted the Fairtrade City status in 2005. The key components of the economy are tourism, retail, alcohol and the service sector.
