A travel guide written in German or English would be useful to carry as it would give information about the restaurants, accommodation, food, history, entertainment and places to visit.

Important documents like tickets, passports, itineraries, insurance papers and money needs to kept and carried carefully in a separate pouch. A visa is essential but there are certain exemptions which is available at the tourist embassy office.

Kiev has a moderate continental climate so the summers are warm and of late the winters are also not as cold, so it would be preferable to carry light and cool summer clothes.

A swimming costume and sunglasses would be necessary if you plan to swim in the summer to beat the heat. Bring along a comfortable pair of walking shoes if you plan to explore the landscaped surroundings on foot.

In the month of June the Lombardy trees are in full bloom and the city is covered with poplar fluff, which may cause allergies in some people so be sure to carry the right medication if you suffer from allergies.
