Formerly the village of Ash was situated on the main road between Sandwich and Canterbury so, large numbers of tourists have passed through the village in the past. The list of historical tourists also include the Kings and Queens of England. The road has now shifted away from the village which has acquired a calm and pleasant atmosphere.
The village was once a part of the Royal Manor of Wingham. It was given the title of parish in 1282. One can see various historical monuments and architecture in the village and surrounding area.
The best place to visit near Ash village is the Sandwich area. The Old Town wall in this town is worth visiting. Though most of the wall has disappeared, it is a nice place to have a leisurely walk. The surrounding nature surely rejuvenates visitors.
The Guild Hall and Museum located in Sandwich dates back to Elizabethan times. The historical events in Sandwich can be learnt from this museum. During the summers, tourists can enjoy a River Bus ride.
It is a special bus ride arranged only in summer, which enables tourists to view breathtaking scenes of the surrounding areas. Gazen Salts Nature Reserve is a man made reserve, spread over 13 acres.
