The city is a part of Metropolitan Borough of Bradford which is in the metropolitan county of West Yorkshire. The close by places to Baildon are Shipley which is to the south and Keighley to the west.

The population of the city is 14,929.

The famous Journalist Richard Whiteley was from this city, also Mountaineer Ian Clough was born in Baildon. The well known cricketer Mathew Hoggard has lived in this city for quite some years.
