Tourist Guide Beeston

Beeston is located some four miles to the west of the centre of the city of Nottingham. In the late 19th century there was a controversy that since Beeston was called as “Hive of Industry”, maybe the town’s name Beeston was derived from the bee. Beehives appear carved in the bricks of the town hall’s exterior. To prove this derivation as true there is a sculpture of a man sitting next to a beehive on the High Road. This sculpture is popularly known as the “Bee-man” or “The Beekeeper” or “Beeking”.

Beeston is typically regarded as the outskirt of the city of Nottingham and is officially designated as a part of the Nottingham Urban Area. It is included in the Broxtowe Constituency for the UK general elections.

Beeston also involves a University in the eastern edge called the “University of Nottingham” where we find a large number of postgraduate students.

The population of Beeston according to the 2001 census is about 21,000.

The standard of living of the people in this locality is very much high.
