Berwick-Upon-Tweed can be described as a town located in Northumberland county. It’s, in fact, the ‘northernmost town’ with regards to England; along eastern coast at mouth of River Tweed.
Berwick-Upon-Tweed lies at the distance of 4 Km on the southern side of Scottish border. Moreover, it goes on to form portion of broader borough of Berwick-Upon-Tweed ‘local government district.
Berwick-Upon-Tweed is central to ‘boundary war’ between Kingdoms of England and Scotland since eleventh century. It has been a portion of England since the year 1482. Berwick, however, happens to have tough ‘cultural’ links with respect to Scotland. Berwick-Upon-Tweed can boast of certain remarkable architectural features, barrack buildings and defense ramparts in particular.
Berwick-Upon-Tweed had originally been county town with regards to Berwickshire. However, from the year 1482 till abolition on its part in the year 1975, ‘Berwickshire’ had unique distinction to be sole UK county to be named after town in the other country.
