Tourist Guide Bidford-on-Avon

Bidford-on-Avon is a civil parish and a large village located in Warwickshire County. Despite of the huge area, the village is sparsely populated with 4,830 residents.

Its name comes from the fact that it is located on the banks of the River Avon. Stratford-upon-Avon is situated about 7 miles from Bidford, downstream while Eveshame is located about 7 miles upstream from Bidford. There was an ancient ford at this point on the river, around which the village grew-up. The ford was replaced by a narrow stone bridge.

The village lies in the West Midland region of England. This area experiences cold winters. However, being in the central region of the country, Bidford-on-Avon has warmer summers.
