Blackpool Illumination as the name suggests is a Festival of Lights held each year in the autumn season on the Fylde coast in Lancashire. The festival was started in the year 1879 and is held for 66 days from August to November. One million bulbs are illuminated over a stretch of 6 miles from Starr Gate in the south to Bispham in the north. The Big Switch On is the brightest night when many people gather to watch the 1st night of the Blackpool Illumination.
