Giving the Eiffel Tower a run for its money (no, not really), the Blackpool Tower is a tourist attraction in Blackpool, Lancashire in England that dates back to 1894.   Inspired by the famous Parisian landmark, the tower rises 158 meters high (518 feet and 9 inches) and is a member of the World Federation of Great Towers.

Viewed by most places within a 30-mile radius, and unlike it’s French counterpart, there are attractions and events below the tower that can be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike year round, including the Tower Ballroom and a Jungle Jim’s children’s indoor playground.

In addition, the popular attraction is developing some new and exciting things to do, including the Blackpool Tower Eye that will allow visitors a modern 4D observation experience, and the Blackpool Tower Dungeon, which will include live actors, scary rides, shows and special effects that will take visitors back to a time to Blackpool’s earlier over-the-top history.

The tower is open 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday and 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on the weekends and school holidays.  Admission is £12 for both children and adults, although special rates might apply.  Town Center street parking is only available on a short-term basis.  For more information, check out www.theblackpooltower.com.
