Kelvedon Hatch Secret Nuclear Bunker
Kelvedon Hatch Secret Nuclear Bunker can be accessed from the A128 Chipping Ongar to Brentwood Road at Kelvedon Hatch. It is the deepest and biggest Cold War bunker in southeast England that is open to the public. This bunker has a capacity of holding up to 600 civilian and military personnel. The intention of this place is to organize the survival of the population in the event of a nuclear war. This bunker has three lives. First is its role of an RAF Rotor Station. The second is as a civil defence center. The most recent life is as a Regional Government Headquarter. It is open to the public in the following time slots – From 1st November to end of February – Thursday to Sunday 10:00 to 16:00 – From 1st March to 31st October – daily from 10:00 to 16:00 and weekends and Bank Holidays from 10:00 to 17:00. This bunker has several facilities like parking space, refreshments, café and shop.
Sherwin Gallery
William S Sherwin founded the Sherwin Gallery in the early 1990s. It is the home of Sherwin Fine Art. Excellent paintings that belong to the late 18th to the late 20th century are displayed here which are inclusive of fauna, flora, portraits and landscapes in oils and watercolors. It is a commitment of the gallery to offer enthralling modern and antique artwork. This gallery is located on Hutton Road in Shenfield and is open from 10:00 to 17:00 from Wednesday to Saturday and from 11:00 to 15:00 on Sunday or by special appointment.
