Tourist Guide Bury St. Edmunds
Bury St. Edmunds is the main town in Suffolk and is well known for the abbey which stands in ruins near the centre of the town. It is believed that the creation of the Magna Carta was started here.
The town’s cultural identity is retained by the number of events and shows held in the Royal Theatre owned by the National Trust. There is a festival held each year in May which includes a number of concerts, plays, lectures and dances.
For tourists interested in shopping there is a wide choice of shops along the Central Walk and St. Andrews Street to the south. The town is a wonderful combination of architectural heritage and rural culture.
There are wide spaces and open skies where one can cycle, drive or walk in the meadows and parkland to enjoy the natural surroundings. It has a lot to offer with regard to industrial monuments, churches, archaeological sites and classic and modern art. The climate is sunny and rain is unpredictable.
