Tourist Guide Carlton

Carlton is a city situated in Nottingham borough of Gedling. Carlton is close to Sneiton, Bakersfield, Mapperley and St Anns. This city is near to River Trent and has an NG4 postcode. Carlton Hill shopping street has several shopping chains and smaller shops such as chemist’s, grocers and newsagents. Carlton’s geographical coordinates are 53° 10’ 0” N, 0° 48’ 0” W and its original name is Carlton of Trent. There is large shopping area at Carlton Square. The traditional centre of Carlton and Carlton Urban District Council became part of Gedling Borough council in 1974. A new school was built to replace the deteriorating St Paul’s School on Carlton Hill. St Paul’s closed in 1983 after many years.

The Sacred Heart’, Roman Catholic primary school situated in Southcliffe road, was formerly known as St Augustine’s. The local schools are Park Dale School, Carlton-le-Willows school, Gedling School, Wheldon School and Sports College.
