Charmouth: Attractions and more...
The beaches around Charmouth are world famous for their wonderful collection of dinosaur fossils that are found here, washed up onto the cliffs nearby.
The Golden Cap is a cliff which lies between Charmouth and Bridport and forms a part of the Jurassic coast which is now owned by the National Trust. It is the highest point on the south coast of the British Isles and is visible for a number of miles along the coastline.
Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre is a museum situated in a cement factory built in 1985 and displays a wide section of fossils which are found on the beach, their information, geology, local history and more.
There is no entrance fee for visitors to the centre and a number of events as well as charitable donations from the public help to run the centre.
