Chorley: Attractions and more...
Astley Hall is a ‘country house’ located in Chorley. Oliver Cromwell has been believed to have resided over here for some time. Extensively landscaped grounds are known as Chorley’s Astley Hall now.
Site had been acquired in fifteenth century by none other than Charnock Family; that too, from Knights of John of Jerusalem. They went on to build original ‘timber-framed house’ around a petite courtyard between 1575 and 1600. In the year 1665, Richard Brooke and Margaret Charnocke got married in Cheshire. They went on to construct existing grand, but asymmetrical ‘front’ rage consisting of brick. This front contains a ‘doorway’ with rustic ‘lonic’ columns. They have maintained their grandeur till date.
Park Hall
Park Hall falls in the category of ‘residential areas’ within Chorley. It was built in the year 1863. The hall has been demolished since 1950s; but is still looked upon as a prominent landmark in Chorley. Right now, it contains four out of ten costly roads in ‘Walsall’.
