Wightwick Manor
Wightwick Manor is situated about 3 miles from Codsall. This is an amazing house which houses several fabrics and wallpapers of William Morris, tiles by de Morgan, Kempe glass and pre-Raphaelite paintings. One can view a Victorian masterpiece that has a timber framed exterior and a Great Parlor. There is also an Edwardian/Victorian garden which has an impressive range of color throughout the year. In summer, there are potted pelargoniums, roses, herbaceous borders and flowering shrubs. In spring one can see azaleas, rhododendrons, bluebells, daffodils and bulbs. This garden has an orchard and a long walk.
Wolverhampton Racecourse
Wolverhampton Racecourse lies 4 miles from Codsall. This is the first floodlit horse racing track in the country. Thus, one can be thrilled by racing during the day as well as the night. There is an electric ambience at this place which holds the punters and the families spellbound. In 1993, the largest alteration of this racecourse took place and an all weather and floodlit racecourse was created. Now, one can also view an exhibition hall and a hotel in the premises.
Boscobel House
The distance between Codsall and Boscobel House is 4 miles. This house is timber framed and very modest and beautiful. It has historical importance as Charles II took refuge in this house after he was defeated at Worcester. In 1651, he hid himself in an Oak Tree to escape capture and this tree was later known as the Royal Oak. In the 1660s, Charles II restored the Monarchy in England. Currently, the Boscobel House has been entirely renovated. Visitors can explore the region around the house where they will find the smithy, farmyard, dairy, gardens and the hunting lodge.
